With the 29er bikes the hot topic of discussion at the moment after cleaning up at the Cape Epic, #epicwheelsize trending on twitter and the Downhill and Cross Country Mountain bike World Cup hitting Pietermaritzburg in a couple of days, I thought I would look into a discussion regarding the use of 29″ wheeled bikes for downhill… Check out the video:
It seems to be a well known fact that Morewood Bikes export most of their South African produced bicycle frames, these frames make their way to 28 different countries around the world [perhaps more that we don't know of]. What I love about this is that people from all over the world often post video’s pictures and stories about their bikes and their travels, recently I was sent a link by one of the Israeli customers to this fantastic video shot of him riding on his Morewood Zula frame, check it out:
The engineering and R&D departments at Morewood Bikes and Spank Industriess have been hard at work with a design set to revolutionise bicycle suspension. Dubbed “Solid State Damping” or SSD, this device not only saves a HUGE amount of weight for gram watching XC and Marathon and DH racers, but also vastly improves the pedal efficiency of full suspension mountainbike frames.
