As long as the global economic recovery continues, the ZAR will in our opinion remain strong. Global growth, after all, is key for commodity prices and most importantly, risk-taking and the associated flows into emerging market equities and carry trades. Most impressive is the strong historical correlation between global growth and the value of the ZAR.
